I wanted to share my results with you when combining the nutrition guidance you gave me with active CrossFit workouts. In summary, I am achieving my goals faster with improved nutrition.
My goal is to get back to the level of mountain biking I had before I was diagnosed and treated for a brain tumor in late 2022. I lost years of cycling performance because of the tumor. Riding became a chore rather than the joy it had been. The tumor was successfully removed and no cancer found, but permanent damage was done to my vocal cord restricting my airway by 50%.
Improving strength and cardio became priorities. Reducing non-productive weight (fat) while increasing power (muscle) seemed to be the right approach. Though I was already near my ideal total weight, your nutrition program showed me there was room to build muscle without increasing weight on the bike. Basically, I could change my body composition.
In 3 months of following your nutrition guidance: -5 lbs total body weight, -7 lbs body fat, +1.1 lbs muscle mass. I maintained consistent CrossFit workouts during the nutrition program. I’ve been doing CrossFit for over 2 years and it is clear to me that nutrition accelerated the body composition change I needed....and the body composition change is delivering the result I wanted on the bike. My rides for the past 1 month have started to become fun again. I can now maintain a fun pace on the trails. This is new since the 2022 tumor.
I still have more work to do, but it is clear to me that you put me on the right path and gave me nutrition habits that are realistic and easy to adopt in my day-2-day life.
